Urb-it, the green logistics provider and Certified B Corporation, is pleased to announce it has launched in Scotland. It is now offering its sustainable delivery services in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city and the fifth largest city in the UK*.

Urb-it partners with the logistics sector and brands through delivering the last mile sustainably and efficiently in cities and urban locations.  Its customer-centric last mile delivery services are conducted by couriers on foot, bikes and its e-cargo fleet – reducing noise pollution, air pollution and congestion.  In 2020 Urb-it became B Corp™ certified and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of environmental performance, social governance, public transparency and legal accountability.

Glasgow City Council has been operating a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) since December 2018, with Phase 1 applicable for local buses at present and Phase 2 applying to all vehicles (unless exempt) from June 2023. Glasgow City Council views the LEZ as an essential measure to improve air quality, protect public health and support wider climate change ambitions by encouraging more sustainable transport options; all of which align with Urb-it’s priorities and the regulatory tailwinds propelling its business.

Urb-it has launched in Glasgow ahead of the UK hosting the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) on 31 October – 12 November 2021, when parties will be brought together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

In 2021, Urb-it has expanded from three to nine cities across two of Europe’s largest e-commerce markets, the UK and France. It has strengthened relationships with its partners and signed new agreements with several of the world’s largest e-commerce brands.  In the UK Urb-it has signed agreements in 2021 with key customers including Yodel and the Co-op.

Sébastien Potts, Urb-it UK Country Manager, commented:

I am delighted that we are launching in Scotland’s largest city and this is an exciting next step in our expansion across the UK in 2021.  We are committed across Urb-it to providing customers with a sustainable last mile delivery solution while creating a truly customer-centric experience.  We look forward to our role in making Glasgow healthier through this and establishing a strong partnership with the city and all the exciting brands located there.”
