Urb-it, the green last-mile logistics provider and B Corporation, has reaffirmed its commitment to the UK by choosing Manchester as its latest expansion destination, as it continues to rapidly expand across the country. Urb-it will bring its sustainable delivery model to the city and offer green convenience for retailers, high-growth e-commerce players and end-consumers.

Greater Manchester’s introduction of a Category C Clear Air Zone in Spring 2022 will have a dramatic impact on traditional logistics, as drivers of high-polluting vehicles will be penalised. Urb-it, however, will remain unaffected as its modern fleet of cargo bikes ensures all last-mile deliveries in the city are emission free. The green logistics’ players arrival will now come as a welcome boost to Manchester’s Climate Change Action Plan, which aims to reduce the city’s CO2 levels to 50% or below by 2038.

Urb-it’s UK business has gone from strength to strength, and the green logistics players arrival in Manchester highlights its ability to continually and successfully execute its expansion roadmap plan which it previously set out at the end of last year.

Sébastien Potts, Urb-it, Country Manager UK commented, “We have continued to build on our positive growth momentum throughout 2021, and we are very excited for our Manchester operation. Not only is Manchester a diverse, distinctive, and well-connected location, it is a thriving and sustainable city. Here at Urb-it, we are committed to playing our part in helping Manchester achieve its sustainability targets whilst furthering our own mission to transform logistics with a human service that fights for the health of our cities. Our dedicated team has already successfully brought end-to-end and green last-mile delivery services for e-commerce, retail in other major cities across the UK, and we hope to replicate this for Manchester. We are also very much looking forward to connecting and working with other B Corps and ethically minded businesses that can help Manchester flourish and become more ecologically sound.”

With the recent Manchester operation, Urb-it is now on par to expand into other major UK cities such as Leeds, Liverpool, and other major cities, further fuelling its UK-wide expansion plans in 2021.
